125 Years of Farming: Frogtown Hemp Earns Georgia Centennial Farm Award

The White Family Barn Farm, where Frogtown Hemp is now rooted, has been recognized with the 2023 Georgia Centennial Farm Award. It’s hard to believe that this place has been in our family for 125 years, isn’t it? That’s five generations of hard work, love, and resilience on the same soil.

A Legacy Built on Tradition

It all started back in December 1896, when George Burt White bought 245 acres in what was then District 1 of Habersham County. Since then, this land has seen it all—lumber, cotton, vegetables, hay, and livestock. It’s been the constant in our family’s life, shaping who we are and grounding us through the years.

I still remember stories of the old family home that used to stand by Frogtown Road, shaded by those towering oak trees. The house may have been torn down in the ’70s, but its spirit lives on in the barn and storage structures we built from its wood. Even the oaks that once stood guard have left their mark—we milled their wood into step stools and picture frames to keep a piece of them with the family.

Embracing Change: Our Shift to Hemp

As you know, farming isn’t just about sticking to the old ways—it’s about knowing when to embrace something new. A few years ago, we made the shift to hemp farming, and it’s been an incredible journey. We’re still putting our hearts and souls into this land, now focusing on growing the best organic CBD products we can.

This change has been a big one, but it’s all part of the farm’s evolution. We’re still carrying forward the same values that got us through the last century—hard work, commitment to quality, and respect for the land. The crops may be different, but the heart of the farm remains the same.

Honoring the Past, Looking to the Future

Receiving the Georgia Centennial Farm Award feels like a nod to all the blood, sweat, and tears our family has poured into this farm over the years. It’s a reminder that this isn’t just a business for us—it’s a way of life. And it’s one we’re proud to keep alive, hopefully for another 125 years.

Thanks for being part of our journey, whether you’ve been with us since the days of corn and cotton or you’ve just discovered our hemp products. Your support means the world to us, and we’re excited to see where this path takes us next.
